Oklahoma•Texas•Arkansas Current Issue...

November/December 2017 Issue

The Country Register of Texas and Oklahoma is published every two months. The time seems to fly by between issues.

For those who prefer to read on-line we are now publishing the complete paper here for you on our web site and will leave back issues on as well. How often we have been called and someone has given their paper away or misplaced it and needed the name or location of a shop, a tea room or wanted to know where there was a paper close to them.

The print edition will still be available as usual in each advertising shop and other select rack locations. Some people will always and forever prefer to sit down in a cozy chair with a cup of coffee or tea and read through the paper edition page by page. The younger generations are more apt to go on-line and so we hope to just broaden our readership and bring more customers to the shops because of this extra exposure.

Cover Artist featured in this issue:

Kim Norlien, Painter of Peace and Tranquility®

Minnesota artist Kim Norlien is best known for creating scenes of beauty with breathtaking realism.  His masterful interplay of light and shadow celebrates the true, unblemished splendor of nature’s wildlife and the beauty of the world around them.

Growing up in an entrepreneurial family, Kim had a creative spirit and a strong work ethic, which laid the foundation for his art career.  He is an entirely self-taught painter and his full-time fine art career was launched in 1995.  Since then, Kim has gone on to win numerous awards, duck stamps and has published over 60 originals.

Each painting of Kim’s is thoroughly researched to ensure that every detail - whether it be architecture, landscape or wildlife - is captured precisely as it would be found in Mother Nature’s domain.  Painting predominately in acrylics, Kim complements his technical detail with skillful interplay of light and shadow.  The result is subtle, yet powerful - vibrant, lifelike and compelling.  Kim has also become well known for his use of hidden images within many of his paintings.  He believes these hidden images can be conversation pieces for guests and can give families, adults and children alike something to enjoy together.

When they are not traveling, Kim and his wife Lori reside at their country home in central Minnesota, where his studio and gallery overlook beautiful wetlands, woods and farmland. They are proud parents of four grown children who have all helped within the family art business and they love to encourage their children and grandchildren to follow their dreams.  As an artist, Kim believes all of creation is a reflection of God’s glory and nothing is impossible with the Lord and His guidance in our lives. It is his hope and prayer that his artwork will continue to be a source of encouragement to others around the world.
